How it works

You do NOT see in Black and White - You see in Color.

Note: Dyop™ vision tests are for screening purposes only and are NOT a substitute for an examination by a licensed vision care professional.  All of the Dyop™ Vision Tests are in an Adobe Flash graphic format and may be viewed using Internet Explorer (with ActiveX enabled) or Google Chrome or Firefox or Safari or other graphic viewers such as Irfanview with the Flash Graphic plug-ins or using the free Adobe Flash Graphic Viewer enabled. Because they use FLASH, the Flash Dyop™ computer tests will NOT work on an iPad or iPhone unless you use the Photon Browser The Dyop™ SmartPhone/Tablet tests use the Adobe Flash SWIFFY HTML generator from Google, the Dyop™ HTML acuity tests will NOT properly display with older versions of Internet Explorer.

For Dyop™ Color Screening on any computer monitor, select the correct monitor size and then move 10 feet from the rotating color/contrast Dyop™ images until you CANNOT detect rotating the Green-on-White Dyop™ OR the Blue-on-Black Dyop™. Then move towards your monitor and note which Dyop™ you can first detect rotating as EITHER the Green-on-White Dyop™ OR the Blue-on-Black Dyop™ (and their Viewing Distance). For valid color perception, the test should be taken without your glasses or corrective lenses.

You may also use the colored animated GIF files (below) by moving towards the images and noting whether you first detect EITHER the Green-on-White Dyop™ OR the Blue-on-Black Dyop™

Because of a frequent chromatic factor for dyslexia-type symptoms, red-dominant vision” (RDV) is indicated by the ability to detect rotation of an identical-diameter Blue-on-Black Dyop™ rotation at a further distance than the rotation of a Green-on-White Dyop™. “Green-dominant vision” (GDV) will have you detect rotation of an identical-diameter Green-on-White Dyop™ rotation at a further distance than the rotation of a Blue-on-Black Dyop™.

IN THEORY, individuals with visual dyslexia-type symptoms have an excess of L (red) photoreceptors in their eyes. The excess of red photoreceptors causes chromatic visual dissonance when reading, thus those symptoms are associated with “slow reading.”
